I so loved The Enchanted April by Elizabeth von Arnim when I read it last year! Such a perfect book for spring. 😊📚

I've added several of these to my list, thank you! For those who enjoy Enchanted April, Elizabeth Von Arnim's "Elizabeth and her German Garden" is not to be missed. (The audiobook, narrated by Nadia May, is lovely.)

I am so glad you included “The Wind in the Willows”. I read it as a child, and only returned to it a few years ago. It is the perfect book about friendship as well. If you live where spring comes slowly , read it now (Northern hemisphere) and break through to the warming sun.

It’s great isn’t it? And so much stranger than one remembers - the Piper at the Gate of Dawn . . .

Yes - that is one of the best parts too and so unexpected. I like listening to it as well.

Dear Henry this is my favorite round up so far ! I wanted to feed my recent Italy obsession and Enchanted April sounded perfect. I quite enjoyed reading it. It wasn’t what I expected ( a travel novel) but its internal gaze was actually very soothing. It reminded me that yes the world may be bursting with bird song and beauty and it’s absolutely okay to just sit and soak it all in - one does not have to constantly “do”🌸🌿🌼

It’s wonderful, isn’t it? It’s sentimental, of course, but it’s also funny and moving and leaves you feeling warm and happy. What’s not to love? And this is the perfect time of year to be reading it.
