I think this section was the most active part of the book so far. I was stunned at Olivier’s actions- especially when Bernard links it to the discussion about Dmitry Karamazov’s character ( which I didn’t realize then was acting as a foreshadowing element in the story). I find myself a little despondent after reading Gide- disturbing and cynical elements abound.
